7.31.26 I WILL HELP YOU

Devotional today is from Maezie Williams
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Psalm 54:4

Imagine standing to your feet, closing your eyes, taking a large inhale, falling backwards, and surrendering to gravity. It can feel like every new season of life is a more challenging trust fall. You want to believe you're going to land in the comfort of your Savior’s arms, but deep down you fear the fate of a concrete slab as your cushion. 
If it seems like everything you touch becomes tangled and complicated, allow this scripture to be your encouragement. “Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life” (Psalm 54:4 ESV). 
Think of it this way… The sun can’t mess up making its scheduled appearance each morning. The flowers can’t mess up unleashing their delicate blooms in due season. The ocean can’t mess up releasing its mighty roar through every crashing wave. You can’t mess up what God has naturally designed you to do. Just as He established the functions of creation to operate off of innate ability, so He has given you distinct attributes to effectively carry out your calling. However, the key is in denying all forms of self-reliance, and asking our Heavenly Father for His help. 
In today’s society asking for help is deemed as embarrassing, shameful, and a display of weakness. It is one way to feel this way in our human relationships, but is a completely different danger zone when approaching God with this attitude. It is true you can’t mess up what He has created you to do, unless you attempt to do it without Him.
